Akaisi Academy

AKAISI Academy is a registered non-governmental educational initiative dedicated to shaping young leaders through diverse learning experiences. The Academy provides a platform for education and leadership development, offering classes, training programs, and competitions that encourage personal growth and skill-building.

To date, AKAISI Academy has successfully organized three programs, with the most recent being a creative writing class, aimed at honing the literary talents of participants. The Academy also serves as the mother organization to two key groups: The Deen Finder, which promotes faith-based education, and The Time Travelers, which focuses on history and cultural engagement. Through these initiatives, AKAISI Academy continues to empower youth and foster a generation of informed, capable leaders.

About The Deen Finder

The Deen Finder, one of AKAISI Academy’s key initiatives, focuses on promoting faith-based education and fostering a deeper understanding of Islamic values among youth. Through this platform, the Academy has hosted impactful programs, including the "Why Hijab" event, which encourages discussions around modesty and the significance of the hijab in Islam. In addition, The Deen Finder organizes quizzing competitions for schools, challenging students on their knowledge of Islamic teachings and history. These events aim to educate and inspire young minds, helping them connect with their faith in meaningful ways.

Quizzing Competition

The Deen Finder quizzing competition was a week-long event designed to challenge the minds of students from 12 different schools. This initiative aimed to inspire academic excellence and encourage students to deepen their knowledge of Islamic teachings, history, and values. By engaging in this rigorous competition, students had the opportunity to sharpen their intellect and showcase their understanding of key topics, all while fostering a spirit of healthy competition and collaboration. The event was intended to nurture the next generation of thinkers and leaders within the community.

Why Hijab?

The Deen Finder's Why Hijab event was an individual debate competition designed to provide Muslim women a platform to express their perspectives on the hijab, a headscarf worn by Muslim women. This competition allowed participants to share personal experiences, explore the cultural and religious significance of the hijab, and engage in meaningful discussions on modesty and identity. The event aimed to empower Muslim women to voice their beliefs, fostering confidence and self-expression in a supportive environment.

The Time Travelers

The Time Travelers, a project under AKAISI Academy, is dedicated to exploring Liberia's rich historical and cultural heritage. Its mission is to engage youth with their nation's past, fostering a deeper understanding of history and its impact on the present and future. Through educational trips and immersive experiences, The Time Travelers aim to bring history to life, encouraging participants to connect with their roots and appreciate the cultural significance of Liberia's historical sites.

So far, The Time Travelers have visited three key locations. Below are they:

Providence Island-Monrovia

Providence Island in Montserrado – A crucial site in Liberia’s history, Providence Island is where freed African-American slaves first landed in the early 19th century. The visit offered participants insight into Liberia’s founding and its role in the broader African diaspora.

Demeh-Town, Bomi County

Deman Town in Bomi County – This historical town provided an opportunity for the group to explore the cultural traditions and heritage of the region. The visit was designed to help participants understand the customs and historical events that shaped Bomi County.

Edina Grand Bassa

Edina & Little Bassa in Grand Bassa County – These towns are rich in Liberian history, with connections to early settlement and trade in the country. The group’s visit here allowed for an exploration of Liberia’s coastal history and its role in the development of the nation.
